The biggest Challenge

After some philosophical discussion with friends, I've come to the conclusion that although a beautiful sentiment, finding good in others doesn't change much about who we are as people and how we go about our daily lives. Searching for good in others may also be something with which we have little control. So, I will post about the good in others and hope you will share your stories here too, but I will also be adding another spin to the idea.

Studying Counseling I've learned that we can't do much (if anything) to change others. We as humans only really have the power to change ourselves. So, I plan to refocus on what I will call the biggest yet most realistic challenge, finding good within. I do have a story about this for my first post and will share it soon. In the meantime, check out the video below.

One of my professors developed a video for his high school students in response to recent teen suicides in NJ. The idea was to let students know that they are not alone, and things get better. Start at 6:39, the music and message are most inspirational from there.

The idea begins

After spending a considerable amount of time stressed out, overworked, and discouraged by society, I thought perhaps life could change for the better if I simply stopped complaining and adjusted my outlook on life. In an effort to hold myself accountable for maintaining this positive outlook, I have taken on a mission to find good in at least one person everyday. I will be blogging about these encounters and hope that you will be able to share yours here as well.
